OUR REALITY

The Bad News

We were born in brokenness

We've been born into a world that contains both good and evil, but it wasn't always like that.

21
God created everything perfectly

When God created the earth and its first inhabitants, Adam & Eve, it was a perfect world, as God intended it to be. However…

18
Brokenness came through sin

Adam & Eve sinned by disobeying God's instructions. Therefore, bringing evil into our world.

As a result of their sin, we now live in a world mixed with good and evil.

This happened because God gave us free will. We are responsible for the choices we make.

“God warned [Adam], “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

Genesis 2:16-17

“So [Eve] took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness.”

Genesis 3:6-7

19

OUR REALITY

I've Sinned?

Friend, we've all sinned against God!
Every single one of us have made evil choices.
How do we know what is good or evil?
Let's take a look at the Ten Commandments.

RIGHT AND WRONG

The Ten Commandments

If you honor any other god, “energy”, or object that is not God, the Father of Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you idolize anyone or anything that is not God, the Father of Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you have ever misused the name of God or Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you prioritize work over spending time with God and your family, then you have sinned.

If you have ever disobeyed or dishonored your parents, then you have sinned.

If you have murdered somebody, or even thought about killing somebody, then you have sinned.

If you have had sexual intercourse outside of marriage, or watched adult content, then you have sinned.

If you have ever stolen anything, then you have sinned.

If you have ever lied about anything, spread a false rumor, or gossiped, then you have sinned.

If you have ever envied someone, or something, for any reason, then you have sinned.

NOBODY'S PERFECT

We've All Sinned

Friend

We have all fallen short of the glory of God. Everybody has broken His commands.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:23

19
God gave us these commands to show us how flawed we are. Without them, we would not know what sin is!
“Why, then, [were the commands] given? It was given to show people their sins.”

Galatians 3:19

16
Sin separated us from God

God yearns to have a relationship with you, but your sins have separated you from God.

But God made a way to remove that barrier by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ.

“Your [sins] have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you.”

Isaiah 59:2

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

2 Corinthians 5:21

THE GOOD NEWS

Jesus Christ

Jesus says...

“This is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

Jesus died for you

Romans 6:23

“[Jesus] is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.”

1 John 2:2

18
Jesus ended sin

The blood that Jesus shed on the cross was necessary to forgive our sins, defeat the consequences of sin, and open the door to an everlasting benefits package.

“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”

Hebrews 9:22

“Through [Jesus] God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”

Colossians 1:20

18

Deep Dive Questions

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus is both the Son of God and God concurrently. Being fully God and fully human.

Christ is not Jesus' last name but a title of who He is. Christ means "Anointed One" or "Messiah", referring to the foretold savior God promised to send in the Old Testament to save mankind from sin.

“In the beginning [Jesus] already existed. [Jesus] was with God, and [Jesus] was God.”

John 1:1

“So [Jesus] became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

John 1:14

"Then Jesus told her, “ I Am the Messiah!””

John 4:26

“[Jesus] is the visible image of the invisible God”

Colossians 1:15

"Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM [God]!”

John 8:58

Why is Jesus significant?

Jesus lived a perfect life, making Him qualified to take the blame for all the wrongdoings of humanity, which is called sin. He did this to provide us with the opportunity to be saved and have a close relationship with Him.

Jesus understood the seriousness of our sins, and animal sacrifices couldn't truly atone for our sins. So, He chose to become the ultimate sacrifice, paying the high price for our sins on our behalf. His example demonstrated His deep love for humanity.

Thanks to Jesus, it's now easy for us to have our sins forgiven and start a personal relationship with Him.

By becoming a human, God revealed His fullness in a way we can comprehend.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you... And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of [Jesus], the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”

1 Peter 1:18-19

“Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could [Jesus] die, and only by dying could he break the power of [Satan], who had the power of death.”

Hebrews 2:14

“No one has ever seen God. But the unique One [Jesus], who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.”

John 1:18

Deep Dive Questions

What is sin?

Sin is the breaking of God's divine law or wrongful acts against God.

It involves going against God's guidelines or committing actions that are not in line with His will.

“Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.”

1 John 3:4

“All wicked actions are sin”

1 John 5:17

What does it mean to repent of sin?

Repent means to "turn away". To repent of sin means to make a conscious decision to turn away from living a sinful life and instead live a life that is pleasing to God.

By living a life pleasing to God, you will grow in intimacy with God. God has made Himself easily attainable, but it all starts with a decision to turn away from your sinful life and be born again as a saint.

"But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

1 John 1:9

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.”

Acts 3:19

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

Romans 3:23

Exodus 20:17

Deep Dive Questions

Why did Jesus have to die?

God is a fair God, and when people do bad things, He has to make things right. Our mistakes have piled up high like a big wall.

Instead of punishing us for our wrongdoing, God sent His Son, Jesus, to forgive us and spare us from His righteous judgment.

God takes no pleasure in punishing people and carrying out His judgment. He wants to show us love and mercy instead of punishment. He wants you to know Him personally.

The only way to tear down the barrier of sin that keeps us from having a personal relationship with God is by making a payment that can wipe away the sins of the world. This payment was made when His Son, Jesus, died for us.

Friend, God does not want to punish you, but forgive you!

“God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day.”

Psalms 7:11

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

“I [God] want you to know me more than I want [heartless religion].”

Deep Dive Questions

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who performs various roles on God’s behalf for His children.

These roles include teaching us, guiding us, comforting us, enlightening us, strengthening us, empowering us, and so much more.

“But when the [Holy Spirit also referred to as] Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, He will testify and bear witness about Me.”

John 15:26

Why is the Holy Spirit significant?

A key role of the Holy Spirit is that He inhabits God’s children to begin a process called sanctification. Sanctification is the ongoing process of letting go of your old sinful ways and growing in holiness to be like Jesus.

The most amazing part about the Holy Spirit is that He is the tangible personhood of God! He is tangible in the sense of presence since He is a spirit. Once a person makes Jesus Christ their savior the Holy Spirit immediately comes to make His home inside their heart.

When the Holy Spirit comes into your heart, you will begin to feel God's love for you in a tangible way. You will experience His peace, joy, comfort, and more of His emotions.

Your life will be transformed for the better as you partner with the Holy Spirit to grow in your relationship with God.

“When you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”

Ephesians 1:13-14

“For God is working in you [through the Holy Spirit], giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

Philippians 2:13

“The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!"

Galatians 5:22-23

Deep Dive Questions

Who is God?

God is the creator of Heaven and Earth, encompassing everything we see in the natural realm and everything we do not see in the supernatural realm. He is the source of all things, including life.

He is the one and only God, and there is no other. God manifests Himself in three distinct persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God wants you to know Him because He loves you deeply and desires a relationship with you. He is everything you've ever longed for. You were created for Him, and He created you to know Him and have a deep, intimate relationship with Him.

“I alone am God. There is no other God— there never has been, and there never will be.”

Isaiah 43:10

“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.”

Acts 17:24-25

“I [God] want you to know me more than I want [heartless religion]”

Hosea 6:6

What is God's character?

His characteristics include but are not limited to holy, absolutely good, merciful, gracious, loving, all-powerful, all-wise, all-knowing, ever-present, sovereign, unchanging, and more.

Holy, meaning “spiritually pure” or “set apart”. There is absolutely no evil in Him because He is eternally separate and distinct from all impurity.

Absolutely good, meaning He only does good and cannot do anything evil because He cannot do something that is contrary to His nature.

“You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.”

Leviticus 19:2

“Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin."

Exodus 34:6-7

Deep Dive Questions

Who is Satan?

Satan is a being created by God who was once a high-ranking angel in heaven. However, he was expelled from his position when he committed the first-ever sin, pride.

Before his expulsion, Satan was known as Lucifer which means "light bearer". God gave Lucifer the most important position in heaven, but it got to his head, and sinned.

Due to Lucifer's sin and betrayal, God cast him out of heaven and took away his light. Now he is known as Satan, the prince of darkness.

Satan is the polar opposite of God's character and seeks to destroy everything God has created, including His most prized possession, you.

“I [God] ordained and anointed you [Satan] as the mighty angelic guardian.”

Ezekiel 28:14

“You [Satan] were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until the day evil was found in you.”

Ezekiel 28:15

"You [Satan] sinned. So I [God] banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God. I expelled you, O mighty guardian,”

Ezekiel 28:16

Is Satan in control?

No, God is in absolute control over everything in both Heaven and Earth, but He granted Satan limited authority on Earth.

Satan is responsible for all the evil on Earth and constantly seeks to establish absolute control to carry out his evil agenda. However, he repeatedly fails in his attempts because God remains in absolute control.

Satan is a defeated foe. Jesus' death and resurrection on the cross sealed Satan's permanent defeat. Now, through Jesus Christ, people can find salvation and freedom from Satan's control.

Despite Satan's defeat, God grants us the freedom to choose between Him and Satan. The choice is yours. Friend, will you choose Jesus today?

“I [Jesus] don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world [Satan] approaches. He has no power over me”

John 14:30

“For only as a human being could [Jesus] die, and only by dying could [Jesus] break the power of [Satan], who had the power of death.”

Hebrews 2:14

"Today I [God] have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”

Deuteronomy 30:19

No, I'm not ready.

We understand.

We dedicated this section to answer some of the most common reasons people wait to give their lives to Jesus Christ. We hope that this page can help you and bring you clarity.

Why would God want me?

No matter who you are or what you’ve done you are special in God’s eyes. God specifically created you to have a relationship with Him and nothing can change that.

He loves you like a father loves his children. In fact, the Bible says that we were created in His image revealing that we are a special creation, one that resembles God as a child resembles their parents.

You were never meant to live apart from God. You were destined to be His child from the beginning. God wants to be involved in your life as your Heavenly Father and He wants you in Heaven where He is for eternity!

Friend, you are valuable to God and He is after your heart. Will you give Him a chance?

God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Ephesians 1:5

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

I need to clean myself up first.

Friend, you’ve missed the point. The purpose of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave was to clean you Himself. We cannot clean ourselves, Jesus has to do it for us and He does it with pleasure. He wants to heal and restore you back to peak condition but you cannot do it without His involvement.

All He needs from you at this moment is your surrender so He can begin a good work in you. God does not require you to be perfect to start your relationship with Him, He just needs your surrender and the perfection process begins.

Though, God is holy and holds all authority in heaven and on earth, He desires a relationship that reflects a friendship. No matter what you’ve heard about God before, this is who the real God truly is.

Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”

John 13:8

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Philippians 1:6

I don't need God. My life is great without God.

Society programs us to have full control over our lives and have this “got it all figured out” attitude. Reality is that majority of people don’t have it all figured out and the majority of people are miserable with their lives searching for who they are. Many people today are job hopping, changing degrees, the field they work in, moving to new places, etc. trying to figure our who they are through trial and error within their own control. Maybe you can relate.

Anybody can go to school and graduate with a degree if they really tried. Working hard to gain prosperity is a universal law. Even the Bible says it!

In the end, you die and the world you cannot control will reach you. Majority of people are afraid to die because they don’t know what lies ahead and there is this innate and subtle sense of going to a place of eternal torment that is terrifying.

The reason for this is because when God created you He placed eternity into your heart. You were never supposed to live for little on this earth then just disappear. You were created to live forever with God.

Friend, Jesus tells us that you have to lose your life in order to find it. We Christians are living testimonies of this. We’ve all lost our lives in the sense of life as we perceived it through our own eyes, but we found our life’s true identity through Jesus Christ. Who we thought we were before finding Jesus Christ were just obstacles from our true destiny. Jesus gave you your life and He is the only one who can guide you to who you are.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

Matthew 10:39

He has planted eternity in the human heart.

Eccesiastes 3:11

Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.

Proverbs 13:4

How do I know there is a God?

Let's approach it this way. How do you know that there is a company named Apple Inc.? You may or may not be reading this on an iPhone or Mac. You know, for sure, that the iPhone came from somewhere. It has to have a source otherwise it cannot exist.

A sophisticated invention like the iPhone could not have spontaneously appeared from nowhere. Consider how marvelous the iPhone is. It was the first smartphone, it was the first phone to allow people to text on a digital keyboard (which was cutting edge at the time!), it can take high-quality pictures, you can edit your pictures on it, you can browse the internet on it, its physical shape is designed to comfortably fit in your hand, etc. These are only a few things we’ve mentioned. You can be assured that it takes an entire team to design and develop the few things we’ve mentioned.

You could never look at someone and deny the iPhone has a source. It would make you look foolish! Of course, the iPhone has a source! It came from Apple Inc. and we, as the consumers, applaud Apple for developing such an incredible invention. We, as the consumers, may never understand all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into developing such a sophisticated device, but we can see its awesomeness with our own eyes and believe them.

Friend, we used this analogy to illustrate the parallels between mankind and an invention like the iPhone, and between God and an inventor, in this case the company Apple Inc.

Consider your being. You have eyes, ears, hands, feet, mouth, teeth, feelings, intellect, immune system, blood type, brain, organs, and so much more! How could anybody argue that we are the result of chance, without a maker?

Even the secular coffee company Intelligentsia admits that “Great coffee is not the result of chance”. Chance cannot produce sophisticated and wonderfully designed products. There has to be much thought put into anything that is made.

Your house has an architect and a team of builders. The skyscrapers in the Great American Cities have an architect and a team of builders. Nothing on this earth was created by chance and neither were you!

For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.

Hebrews 3:4

People who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Romans 1:18-20

How do I know Jesus existed?

There are overwhelming extra-biblical sources that confirm Jesus’ existence and there are 500 eye witnesses that confirm His resurrection. There are secular sources that confirm Jesus’ existence. If you do some research you will quickly find that Jesus was in fact a real man.

Jesus was so influential that we count time after He was on the earth as a man! No other human has ever had such an impact on humanity. It would be easier to question if other ancient people ever existed rather than Jesus.

[Jesus] was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.

1 Corinthians 15:6
